The Haitian Creative Digital Awards 2021 Recap

With Haitian creatives taking over social media, it is refreshing to see a platform that recognizes creatives for their work. No this is not an Emmy but who’s to say that one day the Haitian Creative Digital Awards won’t be just as big or bigger. The Haitian Creative Digital Awards are an annual award show that celebrates Haitian creatives worldwide that are paving the way. This year’s Haitian Creative Awards was the 4th annual award show naming winners in 18 different categories. This award show was curated by Haitians Who Blog and their co-founders Shirley Dor and Naika J. This year's award had a twist where the amazing entertainment host Meline Rose gave us the good this year.

As a viewer, it was so exciting to see Haitians on screen doing what they do. One of the main things that gave me butterflies was hearing the sponsors speak. Being able to listen to the sponsors speak about what they do. If nothing else, it was a source of motivation and inspiration to see so many businesses that specifically cater to Haitian people and the diaspora. Aside from that, it was exciting that there were giveaways for viewers.

A special night for Haitian Creatives around the world premiered January 10, 2022. Out of 430 nominees, a select few came out on top. One of the things I enjoyed most about the awards were seeing new faces. Although I would like to think that I keep up with the world of Haitian creatives, there are always people I’ve never seen before. This award show not only is great exposure for Haitian creatives, but for viewers and connoisseurs of Haitians making their mark in the creative space. Some of the creatives that I began to follow, after seeing them on the Haitian Creative Digital Awards were Guelita Gee who won the Finance Creative of the Year, Magda Civil who won Fitness Creative of the Year, and Laura Valentine who won Parenting Creative of the Year. Had it not been for the Haitian Creative Digital Awards, I may have never come across these influencers on my own. That’s my favorite part of this award show. It’s not the Haitian music playing in the background, dance breaks, or the personalities that you see on camera, it’s being introduced to new creatives that can help teach me something and represent for Haitians in all industries.

DJ J-Style was on the ones and two’s putting us on to new Haitian artists and making us gouyad in our seats. The dance break during the intermission was a good time. I wish we could have had that moment in person. Could you imagine that intermission in person, everyone dancing in the isles? I can’t wait for this event to go in person one day.

My vision for the world of Haitian creatives is extremely imaginative. I love that even during a pandemic we can still have events for us and by us. I would love to one day be at a Haitian Creative Digital Award Show in person, walking down a red-carpet meeting Haitian creatives who look just like me. Who speak just like me and are regular people putting on for the c. lture? I am so appreciative to Haitians Who Blog for following their vision and creating a virtual community. Their platform, vision and encouragement are vital Haitians all over the world. I think I speak for the whole community when I say I am excited for what’s next. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the show live, you can view the recording on YouTube.
